Nesting Platform for the Marbled Murrelet
The cooler climate and abundance of precipitation found up in the Caren Range are the ideal conditions for the growth of moss platforms in ancient Cypress trees. These moss platforms are what the endangered Marbled Murrelet are adapted to use for their nests. As these moss platforms dissappear from the cutting of old growth Cypress, so do the Marbled Murrelets.
There is an abundance of these moss platforms inside the proposed mine site.
