Overview of the Two Proposed Mine Sites
Pan Pacific Aggregates has plans for two huge open pit mines on the Sechelt Peninsula. The northern mine site lies due south of Spipyus Provincial Park (outlined in Red). The two yellow boxes in the Northern mine site are the Alexis mine claims which is rumoured to be bought by Pan Pacific Aggregates. The yellow line that heads southwest down to the ocean (Wood Bay) is the proposed conveyer belt location for transporting the carbonate rock to waiting barges.

The proposed southern mine site is also outlined in yellow and lies just north of the town of Sechelt.

The Green areas indicated Old Growth Management areas; forests that are thousands of years old. Old Growth Management Areas or OGMA's are out of bounds to the forestry industry but vulnerable to mining operations.
